Pikrolimni is located in the south side of the prefecture on the boarders with Thessalonica, which is located 23 km away.

It is a small shallow lake that extends over 4.500 sq m. and which is usually dry during summer.

The bottom of the lake consists of clay which is full of sulphurus compounds and nitrate and this makes its mud ideal

for therapeutic and cosmetic applications, known all over the country. Nowadays, the area has an organized Clay therapy center.
