MARCH The events of "Clean Monday" in Goumenissa signify the beginning of Spring. Celebrations in Goumenissa showcase Lenten dishes with cauldrons of soup and Brass Bands playing music in all the town squares and dancing all the traditional dances. APRIL The Byzantine hymns of Holy Week and all the sequences shown, accompanied by the Choirs and the Brass Bands. The culmination of the solemn atmosphere in the central square in Goumenissa on Good Friday, the time where the epitaphs of all three churches and three different groups of Brass Bands unite to form a great music group. Only those who have lived these moments can sense the magic and the solemness of the atmosphere. This is one of the highlights of living in Goumenissa. MAY On May Day, nature calls and the mountain streams of shock and smells of the region, awaken the senses. The Beech trees, the greenery and flowers overwhelm the trails. What can be more beautiful than a wreath made of twigs, amberjack walnut and wild flowers? |
