SEPTEMBER By the end of harvest season, the smell of "mustos" begins. The first rains water the earth, the smell of damp thinking and consciousness. The plane-leaves slowly getting tired of the yellow color. Winemaking festivals and events take place throughout Goumenissa during this season, some improvised and some organized. OCTOBER Harvesting chestnut fruits dominates the flavors and activities of local residents. The bright red shades of sour cherries, the yellow and brown hues of the Oaks are colors showcased in this area and is a must see! NOVEMBER The distillation of "Raki," feasting on wine and listening to the Brass Bands is permeated by the smell of the wood stoves and ovens. One the highlights of visiting and living in Goumenissa, a tradition that still holds true by the devoted residents! |
